WARNING: THIS WILL BE AN EXTREMELY LONG

POST.

I would like to introduce you to a new person i met today.. well he's my examiner for the promotion thinghy, but i treat him more like my grandpa.

He has white hair like typical grandpas and speaks in a ruffled-mumbled-rumbled tone... you know lah, old people marh (oooops... it should be MATURED people)

oh and one more thing, his english is broken-broken-broken-broken-broken... we all certainly had a hard time understanding what he's trying to say i'm sure... haha.. it was funny though, thinking how many times i say "sorry" or "pardon" or "huh" or "i dont understand" for just A SIMPLE QUESTION! but cannot blame him lah, he may not be english educated mar..... (no offence :D)

not only that, he kinda beh song you when you can speak more fluent english than him! geezz man.... then guess what he did? he twisted the question all way round until you're confused then he feels so happy == (i caught him grinning..)

and this is our conversation from the minute i stepped into the room............................

Note: Dr stands for the old man.. Mr stands for Mr Lau

-------------------------------------------Part 1-----------------------------------------------
*knock, knock*

Me: good afternoon sir....

Dr: gooddr afterrnoonnnrr.. rmfffmmaddaed bla bla bla... *didnt understand what he said*
*dont care, just sit down*

Me:Thank you sir...
Dr: did i ask you to sit down? no rite? then why are you sitting?

Me: Huh?? *totally blur*
Dr: did you ask her to sit down?

Mr: no
Me:*still blur* oh sorry....*stand up*

* still standing up staring at him blurly*

Dr: what are you supposed to do now?
Me: *what the sh@T* oh.. my name is michelle. i'm 16 this year. from cadet no. 6 combined division smk green road.

Dr: *glares at my name tag--so damn perverted* from where?

Me: kuching.

Dr: where in kuching?

Me: SMK Green Road

Dr: which school?

Me: *didnt you just ask me that?!?!* SMK GREEN ROAD!

Dr: where?

Me: *what is freaking wrong with you?! alzheimer's disease?* Kuching!

Dr: can you just say it in full?

Me: == cadet no.6 combined division smk green road kuching. *GOSH! this is going to be SO tough*

Dr: okay, why are you here today?
Me: i'm here for the interview for the promotion of NCOs..
Dr: what are NCOs?
Me: Non-commissioned officers.
Dr: No, no. what is NCO?
Me: huh? non-commisioned officers...
Dr: No, no. *getting impatient*
I mean, what NCO are you ? *cheh! say properly la*
Me: seargeant.
Dr: ok, tell me about the stripes of seargeant.
Me: well, seargeant has.....
Dr: just draw it out will you?
Me: oh okay....
*1st drawing done*

Dr: are you sure its like this?
Me: yes. it has three stripes what..
Dr: have you seen a seargeant before?
Me: ya... *of coz lah, unless i'm not human...haha..*
Dr: just rub that off.. draw another time..
*2nd drawing--more 3D effect*
Dr: Ya, ya, yes, yes. not bad.... come back and take a seat....
Me: *got difference merh? whatever*.....

-------------------------------------------Part 2-----------------------------------------------
Dr: okay, michelle. do you like st john?
Me: *that's easy* ya, sort of.. ya quite...
Dr: why do you like st john?
Me: erm i like to do charity work, and.. i like to help the sufferings and needy....
Dr:okay so u like st john... how long have you been in st john?
Me: i joined st john since form 2 year end.. (i know its the wrong answer, mistaken that with another club, but it doesnt matter i guess)
Dr: have you passed your first aid?
Me: yes, last year.
Dr: what is you marking?
Me: huh? sorry?
Dr: Mark.. mark... *pointing to uniform*
Me: SOrry?!
Dr: your mark...
Me: *helpless* *stare at Mr*
Mr: 你的分数...
Me: oh.. 60 plus....
Dr: no no the mark....
Mr: *looks blank also*
Me: what??
Dr: you still dont understand my question..
Me: ya i dont understand *obviously*
Dr to Mr: how to make her understand?? *still pointing at uniform*
Me: ohhh... the passing mark for first aid is 60 and after i pass my first aid, i get to wear uniform.
Dr: what is the difference before you passed your first aid and after you passed your first aid?
Me: *wadda, same question!* *fine* after i learn first aiding, i know the proper treatment so that i can help people, and of course i get to wear my uniform which i cant before passing my first aid.
Dr: no no u still dont understand my question...i mean what is the mark.. the rank after passing your first aid?
Me: no rank.. its just that i get to wear uniform. only qualified members can wear their uniforms. qualified members as in members who have passed their first aid! *how many times do u need me to repeat?*
Dr: okay okay nevermind.. so what type of 1st aid have you passed.
Me: basic 1st aid.
Dr: what other first aids are there also in st john?
Me: there's adult first aid when i join the adults as in become an adult member. and also advanced first aid.
Dr: tell me the difference.
Me: between?
Dr: tell me the difference.
Me: what difference do you want? ==
Dr: adult first aid and advanced first aid. you passed your first aid right?
Me: *pissed* in adult first aid, you get to learn more detailed work of first aiding. and you may go for public duty also. in advanced first aid, there will be more detailed work than adult first aid.
Dr: so u mean, you pass your basic first aid you cannot go for public duty?
Me: yes i can, provided theres the officers or seniors there to supervise.
Dr: and that's not the difference between adult first aid and advanced first aid and basic first aid.
*turns to Mr*
Dr: can you explain it to her what is the difference?
Mr: in advanced first aid and adult first aid, more equipment is used bla bla bla bla bla...
Me: ohhhhh...
Dr: now you see? and i want to make a correction here. there's nothing known as adult first aid but there is advanced first aid. cannot blame you also lah, coz you never being examined in these
things mar..*laughs*
Me: *laughs also* ya ya ya.. there's no adult first aid?!
Dr: No, only advanced first aid.....
Me: ohh.. i made a mistake there so sorry. *but i clearly remembered that mr kho ever tell me theres adult first aid* ==

-------------------------------------------Part 3-----------------------------------------------
Dr: okay, so you're going to be the seargeant right?
Me: yes.
Dr: how many times how you lead in marching?
Me: well, this is my first year as a commander.
Dr: no no times...how many times?
Me: times?
Dr: ya times. how many times? u know footdrill right? foot drill is same like kawad. kawad is same like foot drill.
Me: * i also know lah...... apunene~* er.. we have training every week starting from the month of June.........
Dr: how many times?
Me: *what the....* 20 plus lah i guess....
Dr: okay so why do you think footdrill is important?
Me: okay, i think its important becoz it trains us to be more disciplined, we learn to be more attentive, we also learn how to obey commands........
Dr: can u demonstrate to me how to kawad?
Me: as in i command it out?
Dr: ya ya..oh no no.. just demonstrate.
Me: *you are truly a-pu-ne-ne!* okay. *demo hentak kaki* this is hentak kaki. *demo pusing kanan* this is kanan pusing. *demo pusing kiri* this is kiri pusing.
Dr: thats all you have? wat about cepat jalan?
Me: *demo cepat jalan* this is cepat jalan.....
Dr: can u tell me the uses of kiri pusing and kanan pusing and cepat jalan?
Me: *deep breath* kiri pusing and kanan pusing is used to change the direction if we're not in the correct positions. cepat jalan is to march apast the Datuks in a parade.......
Dr: ya ya.. true...just now what was the first word u said about kawad?
Me: discipline.
Dr: u said discipline?
Me: yes i said discipline. ==
Dr: tell me why...
Me: because... when u kawad, for example cepat jalan u have to raise your hands 90 degrees. if you dont youre not disciplined thats why kawad trains us to be disciplined.
Dr: can you walk over there and walk normally. imagine u're not in st john now. not in st john ehy. like go shopping whatever. and demonstrate how u walking.
Me: *I wanted to do a catwalk to kek him--- but no i didnt* *demo normal walking*
Dr: now u demo walking in footdrill
Me: *demo cepat jalan* ( I totally feel like an anak patung of that apunene old man!)
Dr: so this is what u called disciplined?
Me: yes, because i have to raise my hands 90 degrees mar..
Dr: okay, now you give a few commands and demonstrate it. say squad.
Me: squad.
Dr: squad.
Me: squad.
Dr: give a few commands starting from squad la.
Me: squad akan bergerak ke kanan bertiga tiga ke kanan pusing. *kanan pusing*
squad dari kiri cepat jalan *cepat jalan*
Dr: now you try to walk backwards with cepat jalan style.
Me: *simply walk-- like Russian march*
Dr: stop right there. is that possible? why?
Me: nope. its impossible. its impossible to walk/march backwards mar....
Dr: now go over there and write OBEY...
Me: *spelling test har? good...* *writes O-B-E-Y*
Dr: you know the meaning of obey?
Me: aha.
Dr: u know the meaning?
Me: Ya! *wadda, so insulting!*
Dr: okay now come over here again. now i want you to not obey my instruction...
Me: okay?
Dr: move there.
Me: *not moving- not obeying mar*
Dr: yes thats right. thats not obeying.
Me:yup.
Dr: now go over there again and write the word FOLLOW
Me: *writes F-O-L-L-O-W*

*the next few minutes, he gave me lecture about obeying and not obeying and following and not following*

-------------------------------------------Part 4-----------------------------------------------
Dr: okay michelle. i think thats all for today.
Me: ok! *wow so relieved--wanted to move edi--until...*
Dr: Wait. can you just go over there and write my FULL NAME?
*his phone rang--talked on the phone*
Me: *writing D-r-D-r-i-p-i-n-a-k-S-a-k-o-i*
*glance at Mr*
Mr: change the a-k!
Me: *good! someone helped me..* *writing D-r-D-r-i-p-i-n-a-n-a-k-S-a-k-o-i*
(Yes, that's his name. If you've been wondering all these while... )

*he finished his business*
Dr: yes, yes. good good. as you can see, theres a Dr there. that means i have the highest ranking. i'm so sorry that i twisted you around today, but u know, i have the highest ranking. you're going to be a seargeant, rite?
Me: Yes. *can i go now??????*
Dr: ya. that's why i'm here to teach you all these stuff so that u can lead people.
Me: owwwhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....
Dr: ya, like last time, i got a diploma, then i advanced into degree, then post graduate studies and i have master, and now i have a Dr. so you see its the highest and i'm terribly sorry that i have been twisting you all around...........
Me: Ya ya i understand...
Dr: so i guess that's all.
Me: *BEAMS* Sure!

*hentak**hentak* *salute*

Me: thank you sir! goodbye sir!

*door closing*

BOY! and was i relieved........................

and how i wish i have a photo of him right now....

Wheeee.... it's finally sports day! gosh, i have been waiting for this day for ages.. i've got that butterflies in my stomach again (diarhoea to be exact...) even few weeks before sports day, too nervous and exited bout the marching..

1st day

7.30 am : my first acara - 5000LJK

yea, some say i'm nuts to join this event. well, i like it what, though it IS VERY VERY tiring! you should see how i pant and sweat during and after the event. suffered from muscle cramp too. but THANK GOD i didn't pengsan! and i also won a silver medal for rumah cheetah. (YAY, CHEETAHS!!) and I LOVE min jing so much for massaging my legs. She's really a master in massaging. :)

9.30 am : i changed into my St John uniform.
Actually, I had another event that time. but my legs were still in pain so i couldnt go for it. hopefully the backup went...So I went on to do stuffs with the St Johns(couldnt remember what I did. Mostly staring blankly at my sore feet I think, while they were fixing their hair. I was worried that I couldnt march well that afternoon.)

And Thanks to our 老板, we are known as the kia-su team for getting ready so early. Other marching teams weren't even in their uniform yet, and there we were, all ready to march. Hairsprays, pins, nets were all around the sickroom. It was kinda chaotic when the girls tied their hair and pinned their headgear. But there's
MARY to help.
I thought that I could open a shop and she could be the hairstylist. LOL.

10.30 am : Footdrill training at carpark.
Was very happy that I could still march even though my feet was hurting. I was prepared to have severe muscle aches for the rest of the week.
Surprisingly, I thought that we marched quite well during the training. though there were still some imperfect areas for improvement. Maybe because of the pep-talk-crap-talk session. Did those words boost our spirits up? These words: we've trained so hard, this is the time to show our best! kept spinning in my head.

12.45 pm : Raptai (nervous and more...)
Again, we showed our kiasuness, we were the first to arrive at the indoor stadium. I was quite blur on how to march out of the stad
ium to the grandstand. Dunno when to give the command and stuff.. I was totally nervous about the competition. I hugged and held the hands of team members and oh, I was still nervous. Even though it's not the REAL THING yet. Later, I heard from liphin that teachers commented on us. Said our uniform was neat and tidy and the marching was quite good as well. I WAS TOTALLY AMAZED AND SPEECHLESS BY THAT! Suddenly, I have the confidence back in my soul.

1.30 pm : waiting
I hate waiting.... We were waiting for the VIPs in that damn freaking hot stadium, and yes, I was getting more nervous every moment. Kept on drinking water, just to satisfy myself.... after the raptai, we thought of ways to improve our marching. Gave final advices, especially on the timing part. We did final checking on uniform, shoe laces. Also did another round of pep-talk session.

GB's version: BB 帥不帥? 帥!

BB's version : GB 美不美? 美!
hmm, bsm was nowhere near us. couldnt do that .. so...

and our version : 能不能做到最好? 能!!!!! yay~~

GOSH arrrrr, it was really killing me!! My heart was practically flying out....people, i need your teamwork!!

2.00 pm :THE MOMENT
after GB march out, it was our turn. I tried to command as loud as possible, since they always complaint that they hardly hear my voice sometimes. My stomach hurts by pushing so much.
-we passed by the grandstand.

SQUAD PANDAAAANG KANAN!
we held our heads up, as high as we could. and i spotted lots of my friends and also CO people. they were really attractive in the orange tee. sparkling enough. the only people that i didnt see was the VIPs, except for En putit. I know that was weird, maybe because they all look so alike (VIPs have those kind of, well, VIP face)

SQUAD PANDAAAANG DEPAN!
then we belok into the grassy area and into our spot. phew!! i was relieved.
the rest of the time we spent on the grass land listening to speeches and also ikrar and the band performance.
THANK GOD no one fainted. The weather was cooling all of a sudden, i LOVE IT!
and then...........
it was time for the results of the competition.

TEMPAT KETIGA KATEGORI BADAN BERUNIFORM............... *drumrolls*

ST. JOHN AMBULANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! that was a susprise. It's incredible! It's unbelievable! yes, i was overjoyed and somehow turned speechless. I nudged the dreaming flag bearer to go up the grandstand together.
haha.. it was obvious that he was in a shock as well, seeing his blur expression..
I was practically trembling with happiness? when I shook hands with the dunno-whats-the-name-VIP.

I kept on smiling in my heart..you know, that kind of unexpected joy and happiness, its indescribable! It just felt so great!! XD

YAY, ST JOHNs! We did it! Have a treat!!!=P

3.30 pm : happiness was in the air!
we marched back to the indoor stadium.

*SHOUTS*
*SCREAMS*

*SHRIEKS*

this moment, its so memorable. I felt tears dropping down my face ar... too emotional.....
and there were so many smiling faces!! i love this day so so much....

Mary: it's really berbaloi to use so much hairspray and pins and everything! HAHA!!

"senge","songe","sange"people.. LOL

what did the photographer say? 蛋糕??

**happy faces**

To YOU-KNOW-WHO who said :"u guys never go for training ler, why can get third?!?!" *OUCH!* our reaction:"apunene larh, we got proof man...."

XOXO
